1988-94 Ministry in Inner-city Leicester
Wesley Hall, Highfields, had a mixed Afro-Caribbean & White membership, in a community mostly from the Indian sub-continent. EJL was chair of a large Community Project with many different social and multi-cultural programmes.
There was mutual sharing in festivals (e.g. 45 Hindus for Carols & Palm Procession) & Highfields Muslim-Christian 'sharing' group. EJL member of Leicester Council of Faiths. Caribbean (mainly Antigua & Nevis) social events (incl. funerals & weddings) great community celebrations.
Also, Mayflower Church, Ethel Road, had many activities on its premises, including a healing group.

Mayflower Church, Evington 1988-92 & Halstead Chapel 1992-94
Mayflower, originally in Saxby St, was bombed early 1940s, later rebuilt in Ethel Rd. Halstead is a tiny rural chapel east from Leicester; from this small community 4 from one family (Hawkesworths) went to serve overseas.
