The Lott family in UK (from Holland & France?), first settled in Kent & Suffolk, moving to the SWest & to NDevon & across to Swales. From 17th cent onwards, numerous Lotts emigrated to US & Australia. In NDevon they were farmer-labourers, farmers, blacksmiths, builders, & at least one 'pauper'! Eric's Gndad Lott married an Ashton from Woodford, NCornwall (in 1890s), & farmed (Ford) at Fairy Cross, nr Bideford, moving to Lane Barton, in Woolfard's Worthy (Woolsery) 1920.
Eric's mother was a Heard/Trigger; apprentice Jim Trigger married the Master Blacksmith's daughter, & later taking over the Smithy in Beaford.
